Shimla. In the historic Grand Hotel near Mall Road in Shimla, Himachal’s capital, on Sunday midnight, a fierce fire caused a major part of it to be completely burnt down. The hotel was empty due to the construction work and there were no casualties in this incident.
The flames of the hotel were seen far and wide in the city. After four and five hours of hardship, fire brigade trains overcame the fire. In the fire, there are about 20 rooms in the three floors of the hotel.
Due to being made of wood, the fire spreads rapidly to the hotel. The special thing is that the Grand Hotel is also the guest house of the Central Government and the government’s top officials and specific people often stay in this hotel.
The hotel’s old building under the fire was in the heart of the fire. Tireless efforts of fire brigade personnel took four to five hours to completely control the fire and the new building in the hotel was protected from being blown.
According to information received from the fire department, the sudden fire broke out in the old building in the old building near the gate of the Grand Hotel.
As soon as the fire was reported, the team of the fire brigade of Bal Road, Shimla and Baluganj reached the spot and got involved in relief and rescue operations.
More than five small fire brigade vehicles managed to control the fire at around four o’clock in the morning. This incident of a fire broke out in the city and the tourists of nearby hotels got scared.
According to firefighter Dharm Chand Sharma, the fire has been extinguished, but one part of the hotel is completely burnt.
Shimla Deputy Commissioner Rajeshwar Goyal, who arrived to take stock of the situation, said on Monday that there was no casualty in the fire. The reason for the fire is being investigated for the time being.
